InKnowBiz Associates was pleased to attend the FICPI INDIA IP Seminar 2026, organised by the FICPI INDIA. The seminar offered a valuable opportunity to learn about developments shaping Indian and international intellectual property practice.

FICPI - International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys President Elia Sugrañes shared perspectives on advancing the global IP profession, while Robert Watson discussed significant decisions of the European Patent Office Enlarged Board of Appeal, particularly G 1/22, G 1/23, G 1/24 and G 2/24, and their implications for patent practice.

An engaging panel discussion on “Efficient Patent Grants and Challenges in Prosecution: Rejections and Appeals”, moderated by S Majumdar, Senior Member, FICPI India, featured Dr. Kavita Taunk, Joint Controller of Patents; Premtosh Mishra, Counsel to IP India; Hemant Patil, Associate Director, Novo Nordisk; and TARANPREET SINGH LAMBA, EVP-Global IPR, Intas Pharmaceuticals. The discussion offered practical insights into preparing effective First Examination Report (FER) responses and handling patent hearings.

The keynote address by Hon’ble Justice Jyoti Singh highlighted the growth of India's IP landscape and traced the evolution of Indian IP jurisprudence through landmark decisions shaping patent prosecution. Her observation that, despite significant progress, much remains to be achieved was a valuable reminder that this journey continues.

Hon’ble Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar enriched the programme with his closing remarks on patent opposition, highlighting the need for a permanent Opposition Board in India. His observations, informed by his experience in IP matters before the Delhi High Court, offered a valuable perspective on strengthening the patent opposition framework in India.

We also extend our appreciation to the FICPI INDIA organizing team, including Richa Pandey, Swarup Kumar, Neha CHUGH and Jaya Bhatnagar, along with the other team members, for organizing a valuable and engaging seminar for the IP community.

Overall, it was an informative and enriching day of learning, professional exchange, and reflection on the future of intellectual property.

At InKnowBiz Associates, we value continuous learning and active engagement with the IP community as essential to delivering thoughtful and effective IP services.
